How to NOT Make a Smash Burger at Home

I will show you how not to make a smash burger at home haha. This turned out more like a squish burger. You can use whatever pan you have, but a carbon steel pan or cast iron pan in my opinion is the best for this. I would only do one patty at a time in a pan like this to allow you to really press out the burgers.

  1. Forget my original suggestion..I get your title so I'm stupid and should keep my suggestions to myself. This is a great burger the way showed!!
Original comment: Looks like a good eating burger but I would consider doing one at a time so the patty can spread wider and truly "smash" thinner. Just a suggestion, but it's still a delicious lookin' burger!!

  3. you got the mallard reaction that makes a smash burger so great, sear is awesome. But it’s not smashed enough! I upgraded to a long grill pan. A round cast iron can’t even fit two smashed patties in it.

  4. STOP toasting buns first! All these rookie cooks never pay attention to temperature at plating. Bun will be barely warm or even cold/stale by the time you finish making everything.
