You are introverted, so dealing with social interactions tires you out. I found working for myself was the best way to go, farm out your English skills to a immigration service company. do localized translation work for companies in the English speaking world. Hell, you could make some money just doing manga translations. Maybe do private English tutoring for kids.
Remote working, if possible. I'm most efficient when I work remotely.
Those job descriptions are all copy paste from each other, they barely change anything. So dont let that put you down. Just look at linked in, most job descriptions used the exact same wording.

Maybe a job where you work on your own with little contact with other people? Like, translating English texts to Japanese and vice versa. Or maybe some crafts if you would like to make things by your hands? I'm very much introverted too. I did start my working life in retail and it was a nightmare to me. Since then I moved to factory jobs and finally ended up as CNC machine operator/programmer. That way I worked alone and since I had an affinity for machines and programming, it was a lot better to me than working with people. As I grew in skill, it bringed me good enough wage and actual respect with little to no overtime. I mean – you never know what time of job suits you the most. Try different things, no matter if at first you have a prejudice over it (like I did for blue-collar job until I tried it). First and foremost – don't work the job you hate. Even if it pays well, much less if the wage is low. Found out what you actually like. If you like your job – you'd become good at doing it eventually. And when you have the skill and experience – the decent wage will follow (that of course, if you wouldn't seat even and will actively search the place where your skill would be appreciated).
Seriously, when you can do you tube this good. Strong communication skill is simple for you. SCS could also means get scold, unfair treatment etc. You must be alright with it. Be brave & stong. The more people poke you, the more motivate you're.
I know (mostly) how you feel. Although I consider myself a bit of an introvert (it's hard to tell from one's own perspective), I'm looking for work involving communicating with people like interpreting.
Unfortunately, many jobs seem quite boring and underpaid. The best we can hope for is that we might get some enjoyment out of them.
I'm curious to know how you deal with customers, seeing as you interact with them on a daily basis.
From the first, modern education system has been designed for produced reasonable labor force. Before education was training for limited group of elite class. However, developed with industrial production technology, nowadays even citizen received composoly education never had a chance to find their life interest.
Mika you should try something interesting to you. I do not believe there are someone who are able to guide you. because even they don't know.
Dear Mika, being an introvert is absolutely normal, but it's a bit challenging, because a lot of "communication " (sometimes completely unnecessary) can be tiring and exhausting. As an introvert, I find working as an executive assistant a good option, as I mostly only interact with my boss.

hi Mika, if you can handle waitress job, I can't see why you can't handle translator job. Take it as a blessing to the society when you work to help bridge the communication between 2 languages. Many people out there who doesn't understand Japanese language is greatly blessed by your YouTube in English. We get to have a peek into Japan through your explanation in English. You can and should extend this blessing into your future career by helping more others to brige and connect. 😊

Part of the problem with jobs and introversion is outsourcing. If a job can be done without needing to communicate, it can usually also be done in another country where pay is much lower. While Japan doesn't have quite the same outsourcing pressure as the US does, I'd imagine that data entry, transcription, and other rote introvert jobs are probably hard to come by there too. Unless you have a special skill, then the biggest reason they have to hire you (instead of hiring a remote worker in Vietnam or Thailand) is your ability to be present face-to-face with local people.
As an introvert myself: it's the extroverts' world, and we have to figure out how to live in it. がんばれ！
You want know until you try!!! Or just stay a the low paying job and keep complaining. You clearly have good enough English skills, you appear to be good with tech and you like creating content. The best thing is to find something you like doing and get paid for it. THE CLOCK IS TICKING AND YOUR PAY IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN! 🤓🤓🤓
Dear Mika, your English is quite good and you should consider an online job as a Japanese language teacher for foreigners on platforms such as Preply. The wage is somewhat good and it does not hurt trying it.
Finding work and jobs is too competitive nowadays but also risky every time we are going to damage the deal of working on a job is too depletion of energy

I don’t know what your qualifications are but check out Hitachi. They share a nuclear enterprise, among other things, with General Electric, so a strong foundation in English would be valuable
Maybe you can also try reaching out Suki-Living in Japan. She mentioned she was rejected multiple times but now have an office job. I think her previous jobs were contractual basis as well but still was hired. Try to contact her, she also lives in Tokyo and shes nice 🙂
i am self employed appliance repair,it's really good to be your own boss but the discipline is still needed, my best advise is to do what you love and you'll love what you do, whatever it is. i like your honesty in your videos, God Bless…

I, too, am an introvert though people may not think so at first meeting because I don't mind people, but, as you said, it drains me after awhile. Extroverts need people to gain energy, introverts need to get away to gain energy.
But what you said about reading people's faces for emotions is what made me realize I overlooked.
I have a difficulty with subtle face expressions and so had to teach myself (reading books on body language, expressions, plus from careful observations), and, you are right, that takes energy. Huh. I always thought it was merely being introverted but now I know it is also taking energy to read faces. For most people, reading faces/expressions happen without thinking, but for some of us, we need to consciously process, and if we second-guess ourselves, more uncertain did we get it right. People who do it without thinking, don't take that kind of time and energy. So maybe your experience with your mom was not a cause afterall.
Have you thought about being a translator? I mean a translator for written things?
Your English is better than you give yourself credit for:
Even those of us who taught English at universities, still make grammar mistakes; and definitely nobody knows all the words in English (the English language has one the largest vocabularies). I edit dissertations and theses, taught English at the university level, but I still look up words when I read, and for my own writing, I still need someone to check my work because it is easy to not see mistakes in your own work. It is the way the human brain works: we know what we meant to say and we read what we wrote that way. (The brain will lie to you.) All languages are imperfect and so are all humans.
Good point about AI, sadly.
AI is being adopted too quickly, without much thought of the future. Didn't think about how it is replacing introvert jobs more than extrovert jobs. Though some of those are getting replaced too (customer service, for example).
Hello Mika! English is my FIRST language. Listening to you speak, I would swear that you spent years in the US to learn English…IT IS THAT GOOD !! I can't speak for your Japanese communication skills BUT you have excellent communication skills in English !! Mika, you have at least TWO well developed skills; drawing and communicating in English. I have a question for your upcoming Q & A. WHAT WAS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR LEARNING ENGLISH SO WELL ? I know English is taught in the early schooling of Japanese kids, but I believe the main emphasis is just reading and writing, not speaking at a conversational level. Then most of what the kids have learned are forgoten because of non-usage. Mika, stay safe and STAY POSITIVE !!
Maybe a post office job. Basically, any job if it has paper work, plants, animals.
some type of farming (vegetable and/or fruit grower), some type of delivery/driving service (uber driver, truck driver, bus driver, train operator, etc.), some type of cleaning / sanitation worker, some kind of kitchen / cooking job, some kind of writing job (fiction or non-fiction author), manga artist

Being an introvert isn't a limitation. 😊 Many introverts do well in careers that involve focus, creativity, analysis, or working independently. The right job depends on your interests and strengths, not just your personality. Wishing you the best as you explore what suits you! 🌷
I'm also very introverted. I worked a lot of jobs that I hated until I improved my Japanese and now I work from home as a translator. I love my job and I know you'll find something that fits you if you keep looking.

I love your english. Please keep speaking the language you think will enable you to tell what ls truly inside you. I love Japanese language. When it comes to Japanese films I choose to watch with japanese audio rather than the dubbed audio. Japanese language is awesome!
Regarding introverts, I have a lot of introvert friends. As an Ambivert, Im not having a hard time making friends from all ages and I really love talking to people. When it comes to introvert people, Ive always noticed that many of them are very smart, mindful, as well as have many interests that is unique and I admire them. I just have the initiative to talk to them and Im always the one who initiate a conversation.
When it comes to job that is perfect for introverted people like you I believed that the job Im have right would perfectly fit for you. I work remotely so I dont have colleagues. Im just at home. Perfect for introverts 😂. Try to apply for remote jobs.
Fruits. Fruits here in our country is affordable but you told us that fruits are expensive in Japan. I didnt know that and Im surprised. So, it reminded me that I should not take for granted the fruits here😂.

Hi Mika, I'm like you as well in terms of personality, background, and personal experience. I think we just need to keep trying new things until something feels right. Don't give up or blame yourself or feel hopeless. Just follow your heart and be open to opportunities even if they are bit out of your comfort zone at first. Remember that you're a human and you're allowed to be imperfect. Just keep being a kind and decent person.
Mika, I suggest you find a job working from home. I'm an introverted person too and this work from home has worked for me.
Strange – I would have thought meat would have been more expensive than fruit in Japan. That is what my parents told me when they came back – but, must admit, that was quite a few (!!) years ago now, maybe things have changed.
I absolutely understand this. I struggle with a learning disability when I was young I got bullied due to this. I remember I wanted to learn Japanese when I was at high school the counselor said it would be too hard for me. Which at the time I struggled to find jobs that interested me since I'm introverted I felt I wanted to escape from the reality driven world at times so music, travelling ,walking ,video games and anime were like a thing that helped me. I felt there were lots of things I'd rather do alone rather than being in a group and staying with people 24/7.
Eventually im 35 years old now I managed to get to a N4 level and can get by with it when I visit. I did 1 and a half hours speaking in Japanese with a guy from Hellotalk . I worked as a Merchandiser/Sales position which doesn't require dealing with people all the time but I do communicate with grocery managers in supermarkets to check on things that are low stock etc or what work i've done with the time that im allocated to do in each supermarket/store. Which I still do sometimes. I do Nightfill at a supermarket too which later on my shift sometimes I interact with customers and a manager what needs to be done etc but other than that not much. Which I think has a friendly environment compared to trades like building.

Dear Mika Chan, In Europe the working environment is not extraordinary but is certainly better than in Japan. I am not introvert anymore and I don’t have an university degree, it took a while but now I have a perfect job,. I don’t like to speak in public, but you get used to it and if you have good colleagues, they will help you and not break you. I think your English skill can make your live better but this will be perhaps a job where you have to communicate. You have to believe in yourself and if you think your English level is not good enough, show them that you are willing to follow additional training. I was a bit like you in the beginning but now I know that you have to show them that you are more than able to do the job. I had to apply many times but now I am fine. I know it is easy to talk like this for me and not easy to do for you, but it is a pity to not make profit of your language skill.

I'm typically introverted, and understand what you mean about feeling the need to read how people are responding around you. I find I have done this a lot throughout my life as well. Even though I'm introverted in my daily life, I've found that I enjoy teaching early childhood ages. I recently changed from a very corporate education center to one that is nature-based and in line with my values and who I am as a person. It's a little outside of the box, but that fits me. I'm about to start this job, but spent some time there to see how I liked it, and I found it to be more enjoyable than the corporate one. For me, I took a while doing different types of education and finding out which route really fit me the best. You're still young, even if you don't feel it, so you do have time to figure out where you'd like to go in life, and it is okay to change that idea later, even if society makes it harder. I think you will find something that meets your needs.Have a great week!
