Here's my take: Foldables aren’t really mass‑market phone, they’re built for a niche. IMO, main demographics are power users who need multitasking, business professionals who want a laptop‑like setup on the go, or tech enthusiasts who don’t mind paying a premium for cutting‑edge design. They’re not exactly aimed at students (too expensive) or artists who need big canvases for pen work.
I’ve lived on both sides. I used to carry two phones: iPhone for work, android for personal. Just so I could run dual WhatsApp and messaging. But that setup forced me to lug around a laptop or iPad everywhere for productivity. When I switched to the Z Fold 5, my workflow completely changed. I had dual apps on one device, DeX that let me plug into any monitor at home or the office, and even a Secure Folder that acted like a second phone inside my phone. All while still being a regular phone. Then I moved to the Fold 6, and now I’m on the Fold 8. Does the Fold have limitations? Sure. But when you compare the Duo and the Fold side‑by‑side, the Fold far exceeds in purpose. The Duo still makes you carry multiple devices to get the same results, while the Fold consolidates everything into one. For someone like me, that’s the difference between hype and actual productivity.a

The point to be noted is "We cant assume/say blindly that Samsung took years to solved the crease, the only things is when there is no competition at all they just kept it as it is even though they solved it earlier. But when there is competition they just apllied it on purpose. In my point of view, As a Design Engineer from a Manufacturing Company.
apple это компания воров, они всегда что то копируют у других, систему скопировали с Linux, мобильные телефоны производят там где дешевая энергия которую вырабатывают углем (Индия/Вьетнам, с Китая ушли потому что эти перешли на энергию дороже солнечную), каждый Iphone то ли 18 pro max или Duo воняет углем из которого делают дешевую энергию чтоб сделать вам Iphone, вот и вся вам экология Apple, а что нету зарядников у телефонов Apple, все скидывают на экологию, а на самом деле 2х бизнес и плюс к тому что больше телефонов помещается в контейнер, это не экология а экономия!!

삼성의 철학은 실용적인걸 추구합니다. 아이폰듀오는 IP68이고, 삼성은 IP48입니다. 우리가 실사용에서 폰을 쓰기에는 48이상으로 만들 필요는 없습니다. 삼성은 더 높은 등급의 방수, 방진에 돈을 투자하지 않습니다. 핸드폰은 휴대기기이고, 가지고 다니는 기계인데 굳이 수심 6m까지 방수가 되어야하나요? 폰 주우러 물속으로 가다가 죽습니다. 삼성 S펜을 없앤것도 대부분의 유저는 펜을 잃어버리거나 잘 사용하지 않습니다. 물론 아주 활용적으로 사용하는분이 있겠지만 대부분 쓰지 않는데 S펜을 추가하여 돈을 더 지불하게 만들 필요가 있을까요? 삼성은 기술이 있어도, 실용적이지 않으면 추가하지 않습니다. 보통 한국에서 신기한제품들이 많은데도 처음에만 신기해하고 쓸 일이 거의 없기 때문에 없애는 상황들이 많습니다. 애초에 아이폰과 삼성은 추구하는 방향이 다릅니다. 선택은 여러분들의 몫입니다. UI는 아이폰이 정말 이쁘고 부드럽지만, 실용적인건 삼성인거 같습니다.
Samsung’s "passport-style" form factor was publicly unveiled well before 2020. Yet, Apple fans engage in twisted logic, claiming that Apple was copied by others—even regarding a phone type that competitors hadn't even released yet. In my view, Apple has largely copied the functional technologies Samsung introduced in its foldables, while its designs mimic those of Chinese smartphones. The only areas where Apple can truly claim originality are iOS, its application processors (APs), and those pointless, gimmicky animation effects designed to dazzle the eye.

The iPhone Duo screen was ordered months before the launch of the Samsung Fold 8, sold by Samsung itself. So, Samsung, being smart, knowing the new passport format, and the fame that everything Apple is either a success or total flop, already with experience in foldable smartphones, ran on its designers and changed the format to passport. Simple explanation. Apple takes years to develop a product. And the difference in the price of the 2 is minimal. That is, those who love the Apple ecosystem and have money, will sell a lot.

Samsung 100% took the aspect ratio from Apple when they placed their order. However, Samsung only manufactures the OLED layer of the Duo screen. It’ll take a lot more to completely copy what Apple is doing.
