Police say one person is in custody and at least three others remain at large following an attempted robbery at a Stow gas station that saw a minivan ram into the storefront before the clerk fired his gun at the group of suspects.
According to a press release, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Monday at the Circle K on East Steels Corners Road, and involved two minivans that were reported stolen out of Cleveland. Officials say the suspects drove one of the vans backwards into the store entryway multiple times, shattering class and causing the store’s ATM machine to become dislodged.
After the suspects got out of vehicles, authorities say the Circle K clerk pulled out a weapon and fired seven gunshots at the suspects, who then fled the area. One man, 25-year-old Cleveland native Peirion Jackson, was arrested by police shortly thereafter while running in the area of Steels Corners Road and Wyoga Lake Boulevard in Cuyahoga Falls. The remaining suspects escaped in the second stolen van after the first was left abandoned in the gas station parking lot.
