  1. Hey, I was wondering if you would be willing to correspond with me? I have a huge problem and I cannot stop in terms of materialism. I thought maybe you could help, because you seem very wise. I don't want to say what it is here but if you're a willing to email back and forth please reply here with your email or I can give you mine. Thank you. Love from Canada.❤🇨🇦🤍

  2. This year I stoped spending money on manicure. I realized that I can take care of my hands and nails by myself and do them the way I like. With semi-permanent nails I realized they look nice but just for a few days and then you have pay again for the removal. I also don't like how many manicurists treat my skin. It was just a lot of money wasted

  3. I allways love your videos thank you You can buy sooo much crap now a days ….I dont even know half of it Everytime I need something, for the kitchen, my apparetment, clothes and so on….I find it in a secondhandshop or on the streets …..people throw away soooo much good……this summer I found 2 lamps on the streets, and I actually needed one haha…..so I was like : thank you
I dont use anti aging creme…..I just use some organic oil on my face

  4. We have a very dear family friend who has always referred to luxury skin care products as 'pots of hope '. It's so true and at 53 I can say I have never wasted a single cent on products above and beyond a basic moisturiser and sunscreen.

I will say that some good quality food storage items extend the shelf and fridge life of many foods, and can reduce food waste as a result. They also protect food from weevils and ants etc, so I do use these in moderation.

Yes to pushing back on the tech obsession. I buy tech second hand and then use it for as long as I possibly can. My current watch is 6 years, phone is 5, laptop is close to 10. I do have a tablet and e-reader…both also refurbished and many years old. Inbuilt obsolescence is real and deeply frustrating. I will need to replace my watch soon (I use the tracking for long distance hikers which is an important feature for us) and I'm very annoyed about it!

  5. Hooray for not buying things for the holidays like consumerism pressures crazily.
That's great you have about 50 items of clothing. I realized today that I have less than 30 items but need things like a sweater/sweatshirt for the coming season because what I have is falling apart. That's what we go through with wearing the same things so often for so long, right?
So with you with those ingredients that are dangerous.
Yes. We don't need SO MANY THINGS.
Those LED masks are crazy to me and take up so much space.
The only issue with a lot of workout clothes is they are made of plastic and are toxic and not breathable. I have a sports bra made of tencel and cotton and wear just cotton items to work out in now because I was so itchy in the past with my plastic workout pants.
Once, a friend bought me a heart waffle maker but I used it once and decided to give it away. I also had a quesadilla maker when I got married that I right away gave away because I make them on the grill or pan without issue.
    Another great video!!!!!

  6. Hi, dear Vera. Thank You so much for all the calming and inspiring videos, it is a great pleasure to watch it.

May I ask about the mentioned sunscreen? Am also currently searching for 2 in one solution.

Sending best regards from Slovenia. ❤

  7. The whole seasonal shopping thing is bonkers. We used to just decorate for Christmas. Then Halloween became over-commercialised. Now it's every few months. People are such sheep.

  8. The “smarter” your appliance the more can go wrong. Also, be aware that every time you connect anything to WiFi your habits will be tracked. Don’t give any company your personal info voluntarily. Same with tracking on an app. Anything to do with health can potentially be used against you. Plus it’s just one more thing you have to manage, even if it’s just data.
Your body does a fine job of ”detoxing” itself. No need to buy supplements.
    Thank you, Vera!

  9. Thanks for the reminder that our wardrobes don’t have to be perfect and that good enough is absolute fine. I sometimes get caught up in trying and it’s frustrating and time consuming.

  10. Oh. I absolutely agree with you! Especially about wardrobe and more accessories. I feel like I also try to do it better every time, more matching… And the real thing is that I mostly think about like others seeing me, but not like… do I really need it ? "The perfect wardrobe does not exist" – 100%!!!

  11. I like the final message of "if you had the problem before the product was marketed to you, it might actually be useful, but otherwise it would be there to solve the problem that is not really a problem". Good guidance for so many other things!

  12. The tech trap for me is one of the worse ones. We are talking about products that cost thousands of euros and usually the "upgrade" is something absolutely unnecessary. I'm 35 years old and I've had two smartphones in my life, the first one I had for six years and I replaced it because it started to bend (?!) and almost breaking in the middle (really weird..) and now I have a Redmi something that I've had for 6 years as well and I don't see me changing my phone anytime soon. I also have had my computer since 2018 (an ASUS ROG) that lately has been telling me that I need to buy a new computer because the updates for my Windows are over (!!!!). It's simple what I'll do, I'll just switch my OS to LINUX and that's it! I'm so fed up with companies just pushing stuff down our throats all the time, most of it just goes over my head because I don't even pay attention, but it makes me sad to see how many people are just victims to these traps!

  13. Your comment about "smart" refrigerators not keeping food cold, reminded me of Brian Regan's comedy skit about refrigerator prices & keeping food cold. That's ALL they're supposed to do. I completely agree.

  14. I absolutely deplore consumerism!! I just hate seeing the zillion pieces of clothing, millions of bottles of soap, the billions of make up items and thinking of ALL the harm producing these products bring to our planet!! Once my brain was tuned in to the waste, pollution and non-necessities people with or without much money were buying, I can’t turn it off! The reality is just hurting my brain!!

  15. Luxury skin care, tracking devices, measuring spoons and many kitchen appliances are a waste of money. I am not sure if multivitamins are
beneficial either but i take multivitamins.
I buy items that are really necessary and i buy quality items.

  16. I live in Florida…I'm not normally into kitchen gadgets but I'm on my third air fryer! It is sooio quick and easy, used on a daily basis. I can use it on back porch and not heat up the kitchen by using the oven to bake salmon, pork chops, wings… it has earned its place in the kitchen! 🎉

  17. My seasonal change rituals mostly involve practical things made of fabric – clothes, bed linens, and especially nightgowns. Switching them from storage to my bedroom has become fun for me, rather than a chore. Rediscovering a soft comfy favorite again after months of not seeing it feels like shopping in my own house.

I know I just got lucky in feeling that way – it's not a mindset that works for everyone, and not something you can force yourself to feel. It just seems to be the thing that makes me look forward to a change in season.

  18. Hi Vera, I feel the same way about makeup as you do. For a long time, I wore a lot of makeup because my job required it, but I never really had the patience for it or actually liked the feeling of having products on my face. Since I changed jobs about 3 or 4 years ago, I’ve pretty much stopped wearing makeup. When I feel like it, I sometimes wear a little lipstick…

And boy, I didn’t realize how much money I was spending until I stopped buying all that stuff every couple of months! 😂

I was expecting a lot of judgment for showing up at events without makeup, but no one has actually said anything bad to me (not to my face, at least 😂). And it’s getting easier not to feel pressured to wear it.

Hope you have a wonderfull day 🙂

  19. The wearables… I’m challenging my self to not wear mine all September. Then I’ll reevaluate 😊 which means I need to get a batter for my old wrist watch and tighten the band 😂

  20. I find a nice cup of spiced chai sitting on the porch with the falling leaves is the perfect fall vibe. Walking and looking at the trees or apple picking. Baking treats and bread and checking fall books out of the library. I love a good mystery or reading Edgar Allan Poe in October. I'm excited for fall!

  21. Speaking of things that we don’t need,I saw some coasters for car cupholders. They were pink and pretty,I was very tempted but I resisted because of this video.Thank you Vera 💐

  22. I do have "change of the seasons" decorations, but 90% is thrifted, selfmade and the other 10% I bought more then 6-7 years ago and still use them every year.

Also, when decorating my house I have certain areas I decorate, not everything because it can work very overwhelming for me.

With clothes I also go to the thriftstore or Vinted if I really need something (except for underwear and socks ofcourse). I do find this challenging sometimes however, because I have different clothing styles depending on the season 😅 I have sensory processing issues due to my (sometimes very intens) neuro divergence and the seasons contribute to that unfortunately.

With spices I buy in bulk containers I store in the pantry and (re)fill the little pots in the kitchen cupboard, saves me money and doesn't get me overwhelmed or confused in my kitchen.

Skin Care is something that took me over 4 years to find the things that work for me but also are effective for what I need. I know that 50% of my skin health is based on just hydrating enough by drinking plain water. Also, washing my hands often enough, not touching my face and getting enough sleep already do so much for me. (The enough sleeping is still an intens ongoing battle, not gonna lie!😂)

Still, I struggle with my impulsiveness due to my ADHD, I spirale out of controle more often then less, but it's a fun learning curve I see as a challenge to keep myself motivated 😊
