In this video Top Gear pitches the new 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT (with a ferocious 777hp) against its biggest rival, the 2026 Ford F-150 Raptor R. The TRX was discontinued a few years back, leaving the 720hp Raptor R as king of the half-ton trucks, but the revival of the SRT performance brand – and the Hemi V8 – means the Hellcat-powered TRX is back, now with its supercharged 6.2-litre engine packing 75hp more. In a series of tests (from a drag race, via rock crawling and whoops, to jumps) which off-road pick-up truck comes out on top?

Ford, Ram, or off-road super-trucks aren’t for you?
The Raptor R is a way better truck! I test drove one a few months ago and will be buying one soon
They put too much electronic bullshit on vehicles now. Race prep mode? Whatever happened to just getting in the driver's seat, lining up at the start line, and being the first one to react and get moving? Now a computer is trying to do all that for you. Not as much fun. And it's expensive.

That was the weakest "rock-crawling" location I've ever seen. You weren't on a "trail" you were on a gravel road. To crawl over rocks you need to leave the road and crawl on the actual rocks, hence the name "rock-crawler". I realize that there is no such terrain in jolly old England, but here in America there are plenty of great rock crawling locations to choose from.
Good video, I’m tempted with the Ram. But as a Ford guy. Always has been. As well as my father was. It would be the Raptor for me. But on 35 tires.
That Ram TRX is just damn good looking. I bought the new Ram RHO and I've never been happier with a vehicle. It's far more compliant on the street while being fully capable. The 30k price difference is nice too.
No matter what Ford and Ram both struck gold with these high performance trucks.
The raptor is impressive for sure, but the transmission doesn’t have a good reputation, the ram transmission has a very good reputation, I’d take the ram because ram didn’t lobby Trump to pass a bill to make it illegal for anyone except the dealership to work on it.. absolutely criminal..
If I had the money I’ll buy both

Ford has a ton of off-road racing experience compared to RAM. Both sick trucks though.
I think the Ford is $10k to $15k more
