  1. Ok, how'd I not realize this was based in Canada?!?!??! Wtf, how is my country even more fucked up than I thought!?? What was tbe timeline this was based in, and where?!

Nvm I found out it's set in gr11 in Canada somewhere, so they're only 4yrs older than I am!! I entered gr9 in 1994, in Canada 🇨🇦 no less, and i remember the so-called (S)kids back then. I also happen to be gay and struggled with it all through my time in high-school, so this hit kinda hard making me tear up at the end😢😢.

  2. I have watched this at least 50 times already. Honestly, the upbeat ending gives me hope but I feel there's a little dissonance to it. Corey's going to have guilt from the attempt. Some of them are still hooked on drugs. A lot of them still have unresolved family issues. I wish there was a part 2 that reflects adulthood and the battle to be had there, because it's just as real.

For people with this level of trauma, the mundane struggles such as homework, sports, and weekend activities are trivial and unengaging. In adulthood, it makes it hard for them to connect to people who do engage themselves in the mundane. This divide between "normal" people and outcasts can cause isolation which further encourages drug use. The unresolved issues with family will create niche relationship cravings as they settle in to their new environments. People like Molly may find comfort in anticipating the emotions of volatile people which could end up trapping them in dangerous relationships. People with oppressive parents could become very oppositional, leading to antisocial disorders and failure to thrive in social environments that are necessary such as work or college.

What some of these people might see in the near future could be pretty bleak, such as trying to figure out how to motivate themselves to cook dinner after work, trying to stay calm in a quiet room faced with spontaneous panic, white knuckling a nasty withdrawal, rebuilding a raw nervous system after any type of loss, and desperately not trying to set fire to each and every one of their relationships.

I know these are fictional characters, but they represent very real people who are coming to this same crossroads of graduating, or have already passed it. I think these real people know the battle is just beginning. For those people, let me tell you, there's plenty more Rare American songs that can help along the way, so accept the help and fight on.

  3. I know I'm late to commenting this but I'm so happy that I've been able to follow on this journey thats called Rare Americans, ever since brittle bones nickie I've been a big fan

  4. Это очень сильный(ахуенный) фильм 10/10. Конечно события в нём развиваются как-то быстро но всё же классный фильм

  5. Cried at almost half of the movie.. this shit is deep. Spoiler if you haven't reached the end

COREY FUCKING LIVED! I'M SO GLAD ABOUT THAT. I THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA FREAKING DIE! Like the sub part of corey and billy is the part that made me cry the most. Fact that sammy was secretly crying for corey? I knew it from the part when he kicked out sammy at first. He hesitated. He tries to run this business but it just ain't what he really wants. Wish to find more about this shit and as of writing this I've watched the crooked city second song and i hope to see more about this.

  6. I've watched Skids about 5 times now and I'm running out little details to obsess over and now I'm obsessed over Craig's hair changing throughout the year and not staying the exact same length like most animated characters.
