As a mechanic, when I transferred from the F-4D to the F-16A/B, I was very happy to find that the CSD&Generator was mounted on the aircraft gearbox and was not down the intake on the #1 engine gearbox.

I was on a tech call with some tower techs a few months back and a flight of f-16’s went overhead at less than 100 feet, i heard the mic on the phone clip out from the noise and heard my techs get deafened on the other side, they did get a decent video of it though
16:25 damn, what a sight to see, a beautiful pilot aboard a beautiful piece of engineering. 😍
"low-cost" is key. What I don't understand is the creep of "Viper" name, why? A viper is a fu***ng snake, it doesn't even fly! A "Fighting Falcon" is a more awesome and way more appropriate name. Also, Vietnam went belly-up because the pilots were told that they were flying the awesomest, most advanced, fastest planes ever, which they believed because it was partially true, what they weren't told was that the planes were only good at a standoff ranges and at full speed, also, that not having a cannon and first Gen missiles that couldn't lock onto their targets was an insane disadvantage. Vietnamese pilots forced the Americans into dogfights, dodged our wonky missiles and finished them off with a cannon before Phantoms could gain speed and run away. By the time they added a cannon it was too late, besides, Phantoms would still have lost because they were too big and heavy. My point is… Um… Yeah… STOP CALLING IT A "VIPER"!!!
21:09 um… pretty sure the F8 was the first fly by wire fighter jet
28:11 No way is the CG that far forward. Impossible.

Made by germans not americans 😂
The commanders were making the American fighter bomber pilots fly the exact same route for weeks. Even after the pilots reported all targets destroyed they were still told to go in. From the same direction at the same time of day. It was madness. After a while the enemy could set their clocks to when the Americans would fly in. They line the route with AA guns and missiles and had their aircraft ready to pounce. That foolish tactic contributed to a good amount of American losses in the air war.

Thanks for the really informative content with some technical details. Just adding something, this plot @3:52 is a conventional doghouse plot meant for an aircraft with fixed engine nozzles! The moment you introduce thrust vectoring like F-35 and F-22, a standard E-M diagram like this loses a massive amount of its predictive value.
este video es excelente
wow es un locura esto
F-16 VERY BEATIFUL ON THIS PHOTOS
It's got its problems, where hasn't. You did miss alot, St Georges Hall, (Beatles visit February 63) Bradford live. It lost so many great architecture in the 60s and 70s, things are getting better. Glad you enjoyed your visit.
The aim120 missile it's capable of carrying make it extremely deathly within lethal range. Almost an hour of talking about it count me in!
Some upgraded F-16s have received Auto-GCAS retrofits in recent years (Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System). This newly added feature has saved a few pilots' lives.
20:05 That beard really annoys me
With today's tech, you'd think they can make a fighter where the entire cockpit reclines/rotates up to 180 degrees – or whatever's needed to keep the pilot perfectly perpendicular to the G-forces at all times – thus keeping them awake – and alive by being able to pull more G's than their opponents and getting the first shot off – and/or being able to out-maneuver enemy A2A missiles.
I'm not sure if G-Suits will even still be necessary with this setup??
1:48 Those are not MiG-21s, those are Su-22 Fitters. Huge difference.
Gross Mis – use , much more so under Johnson & McNamara than Nixon and Laird , put F – 4 , A – 4 , and F – 105s crews at an almost criminal dis – advantage . In 2026 , it still makes my eyes water a bit .
Buen video…..pero pregunto….si está doblado al español….porque los subtitulos en fondo negro …..no deja apreciar las imágenes para seguir lo que van describiendo. Causa frustración….!!
Wow that's cute the early f16 was so eager to fly at 32:23
27:55. You have the CG well forward of the majority of the plane, including the engines, the heaviest part of the plane. And you show the center of lift forward of the leading edge of the wing. These things cannot be correct.
I've heard from military pilots that the f16 is actually very nice to fly, mostly because it does what you tell it to with little resistance, similarly with other aircraft like the f18 both of which seem to be very well liked by their pilots, of course f18 pilots will always comment on how they have two engines and more engines is more better. From a civvie side, naturally stable planes are very forgiving especially without complex fly by wire systems, fly by wire can take a system balanced on a knife's edge and make it feel easy and stable but before fly by wire you quite literally had to make the craft mechanically and aerodynamically easy and safe to fly, many fbw designs (B2 spirit as a great example) would be nearly impossible to fly mechanically. But for trainers and ga you get the redundancy of having a plane that self corrects aerodynamically and usually a fbw system on top of that with modern craft. And there is a reason every pilot learns pure stick and rudder before moving on. On civie aircraft a COL forward of COG is very dangerous, and you can actually achieve this instability in GA simply by improperly loading your aircraft, say too many passengers or too much cargo, in which case you can stall out your wings and get into a situation where it is actually impossible to recover, sort of beyond a point of no return. I don't think the video goes much into static stability vs dynamic stability but this is also a factor.
