  1. To further build on our goal of creating a wide line of different-sounding guitars, each with their own strengths, we wanted to make sure Odin 3 can remain part of this latest generation of Solemn Tones virtual guitars, so Odin 3 will be getting an upgrade in the near future as well. Keep in mind that we will not re-sample it, so any feature reliant on re-recording the guitar will not happen.

The following features will be added to Odin 3 later this year:
    – Its own NAM A2-based built-in amplifier, with a different tone than Odin x Ari (as it's best to craft the tone specifically for the pickups/performance)

    – Synth Growler & routing options
    – Midi Player
    – Improved Auto-Slide
    – String selection moved to the main page
    – Pick scrapes trigger-able in the high note range instead of just keyswitches
    – Improved realign phase (like Odin x Ari)
    – More optimized default presets (like Odin x Ari)

For now, I hope you enjoy Odin x Ari. I couldn't be more proud of what we created here. Happy producing! <3

  2. I went ahead and purchased X Ari tonight. In another comment, you addressed quad tracking, and how neither X Ari nor Odin 3 are intended for quad tracking, BUT that I might be able to quad track using both Odin 3 and X Ari. Now that I have both, let's assume I'm doing that. Left and right X Ari, and another layer, left and right of Odin 3 – BUT sometimes left and right are playing the same notes, sometimes they harmonize. (even on the same riff) two different midi rolls for either side, so no using the left-right panning feature. – but still the desire for no over-lapping red robins…

Though I revisited the manual, I did not see any instruction on how to route Odin 3 so that I can get one instance to play two different midi rolls, or perhaps two instances to work together to never overlap the same round robins. Is there a hidden feature to send left and right guitars on the same isntance two different performances? If I have to 'fake it' with realign phase, I will, but if there is a super clean, proper way to emulate X Ari's output routing IN Odin 3, I'd love to be pointed in the direction of the proper method.

(Edit: Wait, I think I'm an idiot. Is it as simple as picking Guitar 1 solo in one instance, and guitar 2 solo in the other? lol)

I won't have much time to play around till this weekend, but I will also attempt to provide you with the midi you requested,

    Cheers.

  3. Hey Max. What system specs do you recommend for running this is in a full project smoothly? I'm looking to buy a new pc soon, but I'm not so educated on computer hardware.

  4. Ohhhhhh, you're doing it! I was really hoping we would get multiple guitars from Solemn Tones. I humbly ask for a les paul in standard/ drop D. And C. And B somehow. Maybe something like an american ultra strat or ibanez AZ. Idk, they are really vanilla tones, but there are so many places in music that they just kind of work best.

Anyway, Odin x Ari looks awesome and I will definitely be picking it up ASAP. Thanks for the amazing instruments! You beat toontrack to the punch real bad lol

  5. Where all these simulations fall short is when it comes to accent harmonics that depend on the position of the pick. Ample Sounds Hellrazer completely fails in this regard. What’s the deal with that? I couldn’t find anything about it in the video. Picking accents are the icing on the cake, especially for metal guitarists. Another problem area: extremely fast and short tremolo vibratos—that is, when you turn the tremolo arm backward and tap it. No guitar simulation I know of has that. And no, pedal plugins can't reproduce this effect convincingly.

  6. This is a very cool new plugin, but I REALLY can't afford a new guitar right now so thank you SO much for also providing an Odin III update. Even if it won't reach the level of this, with how incredible Odin III is already I'm sure I won't mind LOL

  7. I’ve installed it, and it sounds really good. It’s interesting to run it through the Kemper. It will certainly be great for fun projects—it saves you from having to buy an expensive 8-string guitar.👍

  8. Is there a way to get a chug that is saturated enough and dug into enough similar to axures djent chord? I have been using the ari for a new project, erasure on my channel is odin 3. I always find that I have to hop through some hoops to get that fat djent chug sound. Great product, love the synth stuff you added for extra punch and layer.

  9. I've been using Odin 3 every day for the past 2 years now. Some of the issues that have come up for me are thus…

First: The lack of a middle velocity. It goes from pretty loud to pretty quiet. No middle.

Second: Only the special "open" palm mute is usable. "Semi" "mute" and "dead" are all useless most of the time. Even "semi" is ultra-deadened, noisy, and appears sampled as though the palm is very distant from the bridge. I suppose this is acceptable for djent, but not much else. I am stuck mostly using "open" mute and adjusting the programmed release times. It appears as though X Ari may not even have this "open" palm mute at all. A step down in palm muting options, and perhaps the only usable one for my needs.

Third: Palm muting often overrides string choice and it just does its own thing for no reason. Sometimes this results in dropped notes with chords that were working before the palm mute keyswitch was used. I wish it would simply obey my string direction, but it has a mind of it's own. Likewise, selecting "string 7" or "string 6" seems to do nothing. the low 8 string will often play anyways, and in conjunction with palm muting over-rides this can get kind of whacky.

Forth: I often have left and right guitars doing different things, and I often quad track. This results in the need to employ multiple instances of Odin 3, and the results often have strange phasy issues. Adjusting "realign phase" to be different on each instance does mitigate phase issues, but does not eliminate them. It seems that X Ari might address this concern with "output routing" but I'm not sure if this entirely addresses my desire to quad track different left and right guitar parts.

(I did try an experiment where I used "panned rhythms" in DI, printed that, exploded the stereo track, then ran those through their own amp sim instance, and panned these both in mono to one side, for one "side" of the quad tracking, then repeated this process for the other "side". This experiment unfortunately ended up with even more severe phasing issues, so I ditched it.)

…..It appears that "X Ari" may address some of my concerns, I am wondering if it addresses all of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for what Odin 3 CAN do, I have already shelled out for it. The thing is, I don't want to shell out for yet another product that does not address or solve the issues I'm already having with the previous product.

Finally: Though it is not important, It would be nice to have a display option where you view the guitar as though you were playing it, rather than you were seated in a chair in front of some other standing guitar player. That's weird.

  10. I bought it earlier, but I only had about 30 minutes of free time to play with it. During that time, I realized that it's easily the best midi guitar I've ever heard. Very stoked to write music with it.

  11. I think I can lay Shreddage 3 to rest, now. Won't go into specifics because I'm not here to bash Shreddage lol. It's a great product. I also want to get a few sounds away from Kontakt right now.

And Odin x Ari sounds f'ing great, of course. And it just does a lot of things right like that power chord thing, for example. don't nobody got time to remember key switches.

I miss the OMNYSS amps from Positive Grid (but F that company now). Synth Growler would make a decent replacement for some use cases.

<spikes wallet onto the counter at the Solemn Tones store>

  12. Sounds incredible. Is there some way to get the NAM A2 profiles used in this product for when we want to record with a real guitar? To stay consistent with the tones in the midi guitar.

  13. Genuinely, this brings your guitar platform beyond Shreddage for me. I specifically love your tuning system, since I didn't have to get a separate guitar VST for 6 and 7 string music (trying to do similar stuff with Shreddage resulted in weird fret placement and just plain bad sounds). However, Odin 3 wasn't as "clean" or deeply sampled to handle everything I wanted. This though… this is exactly what I needed. Ironically, I think I'd prefer this for Argent Metal, which seems to benefit from having a more subdued DI. Glad you added the bridge samples and extra velocities, since my Odin ambient cleans were always kinda difficult to pull off. That tremolo articulation is a godsend for quick ambience as well. Also, that 6-string demo sounds JUST like the old Mechassault soundtrack that I loved.
I'm buying this. Thank you SO much for not just sitting on your success but actually improving the technology.

  14. LETSGOOOO! Every time you guys release a new VST version it somehow always has the features and ‘fixes’ I’ve been hoping for. From Odin Deluxe to this new Ari version you always kill it.

  15. Funny, decided I wanted to buy a Guitar Plugin and was deciding on Odin 3, Shreddage Jupiter and AXURE.
Looks like I'll pick this one up instead lol, thanks!

  16. The only thing I would love is if you had a pitch shift built in. You know… for the psychos that wanna play double drop B. Other than that this shit is sick!
