The Newport-Mesa Unified School District bans e-bikes for young students



The Newport-Mesa Unified School District in Orange County has a new policy this school year that bans kindergarten through 8th-grade students from riding e-bikes on school property and along the perimeter.

  1. The mom – "he rides it safely" cut away to shot of the kid riding an electric moped (aka "e bike") with a 750w motor while wearing flip flops and a piece of Styrofoam covered in plastic designed for little kids on pedal bikes.

    That's just an uninformed person who is letting her kid risk their own safety and the safety of others bc it's convenient for her.

    At 15 mph, the weight of that bike easily carries more than 6,500 Newtons of force (1,500 lbs) of impact force, which would easily break bones, rupture organs, and cleave limbs upon impact.

    Which is exactly why so many have ended up in our ER
