I picked up a low shutter count R as my entry to full frame mirrorless. I think it's one of the best values on the second hand market, especially if you use lenses with stabilization. A close second choice would be a Sony A7III, but ergonomics and the flip screen tipped the scale towards Canon for me.
Her skin is beautiful
The R make the same money or more as the r5 or r6 depending on what you are looking for regardless it make the money. If it is not broken don't fix it
I have my eos r and love it. The pictures are clear and the colors are amazing. I wouldn't trade it or sell it.
The EOS R sensor is just too good .. the colour science of it is just amazing. R6 is bland.
Thank you! You convinced me to keep my 5D Mark IV
1:42 You did 250% dig. zoom on R6 and compare it to 200% on R5? This is not a fair test. Do 100% to 100% magnification comparison. Besides, the focus with R6 on the nose, not eye.
Throw the R8 in there as well even though it will be close or exact to the R6.
I've got all three of them so I know your talking rubbish?
I find the R5 bad and frankly not sharp for a 45 M pixels, it's a scam.
Clickbait
Biggest problem with the R is the single card slot, which is problematic for professional use. Other than that, great camera. Oh, and the lack of IBIS.
In the last 2 years 4 years, 4 cards have Become corrupted on me, right after an event…
That's why I got rid of all my cameras with only one card snow.I have three canon cameras with two car slots each.
R6, R6 and R7😊
These tests are not equal at all. And why are you zooming 50% more on 2/3 cameras?
The R has very nice digital stabilisation perfect for exactly the shot used as an example.
When looking at the eye on the three images of how sharp the differences are, look closely, you’ll see that on the EOS-R image the focus is on the nose, not the eye, thus rendering the eye softer compared to the R6 and the R5.
…on the eos r you can adjust the picture style and detail pops up 🙂 …regarding video the R5 does overheat … and in the end yes, I kept the R and sold the R5, and I'm still not sure I'll upgrade to R5II or R5c anytime soon…
What is this focus guys, no one can compare the sharpness, if one is always not in focus…
My R6 died from heat. Not just shut down to cool. Died. Cooked itself after 17 minutes. destroyed the audio at 14 mins, then completely died and had to be returned to Canon for 8 weeks. It was a mild 22ºC morning.
The 10–18 EFS lens fits, so you can shoot wide.
music is incredibly annoying
1:50
The reason you aren't getting as much detail on the Canon EOS R is because you are focusing on the nose, not the eye.
If you look at the other 2 photos you can see that the nose is much more blurred out because they're focusing on the eye instead
The title got the click. the content got the like. The beautiful model you chose… got the sub!
Thanks for this comparison between those 3
I'm sorry but the evidence just doesn't stack in this test, the R6 is obviously the best in the stills department. Incidentally, were all the video resolutions the same when you tested them?
Duh the first image comparison, with the eos r her nose is in focus not her eye….. how can I continue to watch this video if you guys didn’t notice 😂
1:47 You say the R5 gives better detail because the eye isnt as sharp when you clearly missed focus. The nose is sharp in the R image and the cheek is the focal point in the R6.
I've both R and R5 and for a reason the image quality, colours and white balance are still more pleasant for my eye on the old-papa R. So, for still images R remains an excellent choice event these days at 2024.
1:47 say what? Just look the R is not focused on the eye but more on nose tip – R5 and R6 nosetipe is OOF.
Nope
LOL 2:27 they missed focus, the focus is on the nose
Spoiler Alert : The R is not better in any of their tests. Because overheating on the R6 and R5 have been solved. Period.
Does the lens you were using not have IS? I'm presuming it's the RF 50mm which doesn't. An RF24-105 doesn't need IBIS. Even in 4K, and especially with software stabilisation turned on, which I never have.
Thanks for this comparative review. I own the R and agree with you about the glass, for me the differences in cameras is not enough to upgrade my R. After purchasing the 24 -70 2.8 RF and attaching to my R, I cannot imagine anything better and my EF 70 – 200m. 2.8 with the adapter looks film grade. When I've purchased the RF 15-35mm 2.8 then I'll make the move to what's available at that time. So my trinity will be set and ready. 😉
You used various focus points for each of them, making it an unfair comparison. R – 3:45 focused on womans chain, R focused on womans nose.
Great video, very honest
Great review , I agree totally depending on one's photographic gendre will determine the best body for you and regardless of any body the lens quality will always be the the most important single factor. lets remember Ansel Adam who taught us the most important photographic component is the one standing behind the camera-a simple point and shoot in the hands of a good photographer will trump a poor photographer with the highest and mightiest expensive gear. Thank you for your work here.
I'm pleased to report that your Lens Pro 2 Go code still works. Thanks!!
