House parties, which were once thought of as a rite of passage for many American teenagers, are now happening less frequently amongst the younger generation and at a much smaller scale. Now, many members of Gen Z are confessing on social media to never having been to large house parties as teenagers. NBC’s Joe Fryer reports for TODAY.

Looking back, I don't think I ever been or heard of a house party in my area.
All parties were at rented salons, bars, discos or nightclubs. The most you'd have at someone else's house would be a gathering with dinner or something.
I looked for this subject specifically, because I was wondering if it happened at all in the US or if it's just something that happens in movies.
The late 90s and early 2000s were AMAZING!!! The block parties, house parties, cookouts, and so on were the chefs kiss!!! If you were there you already know what Im talkin about
I do kind of miss the house party, it’s been over ten years since I’ve been to one , I honestly wouldn’t want more than just a few people at my house now anyway.
Their loss. Some of my funnest memories 20 years ago.
THEY. DON'T. HAVE. MONEY.
Parties are overrated anyway.
Also no one has a house.
0:59 Sick and tired of seeing people misusing the term "anti-social."
What a boring time to be young now. I went to many, many house parties in high school in the 90’s in Denver, which is what made my school experience.
As a gen Z I love parties. Even though back then I used to love parties but then I lost interested because of covid and what's happening nowadays. (In the woods of Ray William Johnson) "UNTIL" I started to notice that even though it's okay to party no matter what age you just have fun, for a reason like birthdays weddings Quinceaneras and graduations that means I can have fun no matter what (Even if life is unfair.) Also I came from the 2000s especially the music is amazing. I love everything 2000s but it doesn't matter what generation you're from, you just have fun.
Now this is a positive news for Gen Z.
GenZ kids with elder millennial parents prob live in apts or rented houses because no one can afford houses anymore. Hard to throw an apt party.
Kids are lame, don't sugar coat it lol
Nobody can afford houses anymore.
In other news: why late 1800s French people aren't eating cake anymore. Featuring special guest Queen Marie Antoinette.
We don’t have houses 😂😭
Ain’t shii to party about
TODAY seem to have trouble with their decadeology. Gen Z is bringing 00s fashion and media back, not 90s. The 90s nostalgia was Millennials. Not all that surprising as a lot of older people still somehow think we're in the 00s right now…
Now they have teen takeovers
As a kid, no, I never went to a large house party or a sleepover (I love sleeping in my bed too much.) But now, as an adult with my own agency and money, I've hosted and been to several of the former.
Indeed,
They are now doing it , having parties at home at 1 AM IN THE MORNING😢,
PLEASE GO BACK TO CLUBS PLEASE😢
It has nothing to do with the economy, Gen Z are honesty very boring.
I feel bad for them but they'll be okay. When politicians are talking about 50 year mortgages…you'll get your mind right…and most cannot afford apartments much less a house.
