Why Your Gold Ring Isn’t Pure Gold?

Hit a kilo of pure gold with a hammer and it won’t shatter — its atoms slide past each other instead of snapping.
That same softness is why rings aren’t pure gold: it’s melted at 1,064 °C and mixed with silver and copper. 18K gold is only 75% gold, and that’s what makes it last.

  1. This is why gold is better than diamond. True element that is actually worth it's (well) worth, unlike Diamonds where some companies control how much it's worth with said product being able to be created in a lab for practically bubblegum and pocket lint
