This video follows a single flat steel plate as it becomes a super large oil tank that holds 50,000 liters of fuel. ‘MST’, located in Eumseong, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea, has been building double-wall tanks since the 1990s and steadily produces three large fuel tanks every day. Three steel plates are rolled into cylinders and joined together as automatic welders pour flux over the seams, while a CNC gas cutter and a flanging machine shape the end plates that will seal both ends. Not a single drop of oil can leak out, so every joint is welded tight and a non-destructive test finds the flaws that the naked eye cannot see. Finally, fiberglass and resin are sprayed three times to coat the shell, completing the 50,000-liter tank.
