1. Why I use the word “expat”
In Thailand, foreigners are stamped “Non-Immigrant” in their passport. That means you must check in every 90 days, can’t work in jobs reserved for Thais, can’t own land, and can be deported (and banned for 5–10 years) if caught working without a permit. So while I’d love to call myself an immigrant, legally we’re not — hence the word expat.
2. What I do for a living
I run a health foods company here in Thailand and have a work permit that covers all YouTube activities. I’ve paid tax in Thailand for over 10 years — through my own companies (an English school and a jazz lounge), as well as during my career in the 5-star hotel industry (Anantara). And yes — I speak Thai.
3. Can foreigners own land in Thailand?
No. But a superficies agreement allows you to control the land for 30+ years, and houses here are relatively affordable (1–2 million THB). If you have children, owning a home is essential for their security. Still, it’s smart to keep around 80% of your net worth in high-performance assets outside Thailand.
4. About my wife
We’ve been together 12 years of my 15+ years in Thailand. She’s a finance graduate, hardworking, traditional, and loyal — she earned more and owned more property than me when we met, and she’s stood by me through both success and struggle.

I've been married to my Thai wife for 18 years now we also have A teenage Son we also have a nice house on my wife's family's land and I have 4 Rai which I bought from her uncle the paperwork is in my wife's name for our son I have created a fruit farm and fish farm and I don't have many friends I like it that way I'm always busy on my farm and taking care of the family grounds cutting grass planting trees taking care of my 7 dogs and many cats my wife works for the government so she's always very busy my Son is my Best friend TY for sharing this video 🙏

I've been been 18 years and visited all neighboring countries as well. Obviously being a "falong," we are majoritively seen simply as multimillionaires. Although many are kind, courteous, and respectful a western "friendship" with a falong isn't in the cards.

This guy has lived his dream, hope it continues. ❤ I don’t drink either, but fortunately neither does my (not from Isaan) Thai partner or any of her family and friends. They are mostly tertiary educated professionals. Thais, like any other nationality, do not all conform to stereotypes.
China has no credit score. I live there the last 22 years. Freedom: we are often making long trips in our RV/camper. You can park everywhere for free and we have never been checked by police.

There are no social score in China. This is a myth or a lie created in the West. And the digital money is not used against people but for convenience of the people. This is the difference to the West who loves to controlling people.
Social score are all this totally ridiculous lies. The only thing you have in China is when you will take a loan in a bank. They check you whether you did pay back the money late or idid not pay to another bank etc.
But the West is planning all kind of restrictions and mirror it to China. It’s ridiculous what they are telling about China in Europe and the US. Don’t belief this shit.
I fully understand why you did build this house on this lake. It’s beautiful. Also fully understandable about the guy with alcohol problems. I have similar friends here in Scandinavia and keep them away when they drink. I don’t like it how they behave.
