  1. In what you call the g 5, if you dont mute the a string but play it open instead, what would you call it? A g5/a? I use this chord in sloop john b..after i go from Gsuss 2 times then i go to this br i go to ny D. Its a subble chang but makes a huge difference when adding the vocal.

  2. hi justin, your an amazing teacher, your really helping me! met u about 2 months ago, question ? you say e shape & a shape bar chords but i want to know there actually names. and what's a G bar cord, i know the g cord

  3. When I first saw the G5 fingerchart I was like "how the heck am I supposed to not play that string? its not like I could make it disappear!" then he did the muting thing I was like SWEET

  4. I'm really starting to hate this G-chord…I'm finding the f-chord easier then this bullshit. Playing  G-chord the standard way, my fat assed middle finger keeps buzzing against the A string as I strum. I can't seem to curve the middle finger enough to give the A string room to vibrate without hitting my middle fat-goddamned-assed finger.

  5. This is a great lesson, especially at about 3:40 where you showed us the easy G from C. I just looked this up after trying the Eagles "Take it Easy" lesson. Great Job. My new Martin is getting quite a workout now!

  6. Well, there is also another variation, to play G chord:
with a thumb on the 3rd fret of the low E string and a ring finger on the 3rd fret of the high e string… It's the easiest way how to change between C and G chord, in my opinion. bit.ly*slash*X8yMCl

  7. That, was extremely useful. I've been playing under a year from online videos, and I think that's the most helpful tutorial I've seen since marty shwartz told me which way up to hold a guitar. And I wish that was a joke. I'd been trying to learn it upside down.

  8. I will now teach people 2 chords in this comment.

do the G chord at 4:13, put your index finger on the B string (1st fret) and you have a Gsus (G suspended). or do the G chord at 1:25, put you index finger on the G string (2nd fret) and you have a G2.

    did this help anyone?

  9. I need to go to rehab. I am totally addicted to Justin's lessons. Wish I could take personal lessons with you Justin. You are about 1000 times better than my current teacher.

  10. another very easy (and well-sounding imo) G-C movement is (fret numbers;) 320033 to x32033 (actually that's a Cadd9), i always used that a lot
