I don’t believe a word that comes out of either of these people’s mouths. They look at us as stupid pawns to be manipulated for them to gain or stay in power that’s it. In my opinion Bush didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, Cheney and HW did. I think Bush took marching orders from his dad and it was essentially HW’s second term in terms of foreign affairs. HW wanted Saddam in the early 90s but the rest of the world said no you got him out of Kuwait let’s not let this thing spiral into a huge regional war and it was left at that, but he still wanted him bad. His son gets in and even though there’s absolutely no justification for going into Iraq due to 9/11, they just conflated all operations out there as under the same 9/11 mandate for revenge and over a decade later HW got Saddam, but 4500 Americans died for that. There was other interests that wanted Saddam gone but Iraq never happens if it’s not W in office.
