I Left My Company Job in Japan 2 Years Ago — Here’s What My Daily Life Looks Like Now

It’s been more than two and a half years since I left my company job in Japan.

Back then, most of my days followed the same routine—going to work, coming home, grocery shopping, cooking dinner, and trying to find enough time to film and edit my videos.

Now, content creation has become my work, and my daily life looks a little different.

In today’s vlog, I’m sharing an ordinary day in my life as a freelance content creator in Japan—from working at home, grocery shopping and cooking, to taking a little break from my usual routine and visiting Okutama. 🌿

One thing I really appreciate about this kind of work is that I get to discover and learn new things along the way. It has also helped me gain a little more confidence in myself, even though I’m still quite shy. 😅

Looking back, I’m very grateful that I found work I genuinely enjoy. At the same time, I still wonder sometimes how long I’ll be able to continue doing this. The future of content creation can be uncertain, and I definitely don’t have everything figured out.

For now, I just want to keep creating videos that I enjoy making—and hopefully, videos that you, my dears, still enjoy spending your time watching. 🤍

Thank you, as always, for being here and spending another ordinary day in Japan with me.

  1. Oh boy, I totally understand about the autoimmune issues. I have fibromyalgia and found it really hard to keep a job because I always seemed to need time off. Thankfully I work at home now, but still do a lot of it from bed in the evenings! Also, can I offer an unrelated suggestion? When you are slicing those long, green onions… if you cut them in half first, and then cut those in half … you will really cut down on your cutting time! 😊

  2. I’ve been watching your channel for many years and am so happy you’ve managed to reach where you are today! It’s a dream for so many people. You inspired me to start my own channel. I hope that one day I can go as far as you have. 😍I share your view on freedom. It’s not necessarily about "not working"—few people in the world achieve that. 😅But being able to determine your own daily life and how you spend your time—choosing when to do what- that is freedom! ❤ Greetings from a small island in the North of Scandinavia- Finland! Keep up the great work! With love from Åland 🙂

  3. Omgggg yes, I was already here following you when you were working at your old job. Two and a half years? Already… My God, how time flies!

I’m a little jealous of your lifestyle (even though I’m sure it has its downsides too). I get up really early, and this whole “commute, work, sleep, repeat” routine is exhausting me…

Invisible disabilities are such a problem in our society. It’s crazy that people feel guilty when they’re simply taking care of their health… I think it’s probably the same everywhere, but in Japan it must be even worse. I really feel for you.

Your banana toast made my mouth water 🤤❤️

    This Tokyo countryside is beautiful!❤❤❤

  4. When I worked, being a YouTube content creator was not an option. I had to work hard, even through illness. Same with my husband. Our hard work paid off, though. Now, we own our home (mortgage-free), drive a luxury car, and have a six-figure bank account. I don't think I could have taken the gamble of quitting my job to become a YT content creator.

  5. Thank you for this thoughtful video. It's clear that lot of self-reflection has gone into making it. I wish you all the best as you forge your way ahead in life💚. On a different note, I was reminded of the beauty of the beech trail in the Mount Mitō area, and remembered completing the Lake Okutama Traverse, including the Okutama Mukashimichi. A great experience, fond memories!

  6. Hello Lou. If you want to create a support group to help people and to educate those who don't know what Your disease is, perhaps your doctor or a health org. Would support your effort. Make it an online group so no one has to leave their house. Knowledge needs to start from somewhere!! I have Trigeminal Neuralgia in my rt. Mandible. In remission now but the pain was awful. I started a group.
