Stop Changing the Clocks? Here’s the Catch

Stop changing the clocks—but which time would you keep? Summer time shifts sunrise AND sunset one hour later on the clock than standard time. It does not create another hour of sunlight.

Our imaginary winter day makes the tradeoff visible: 07:00–17:00 becomes 08:00–18:00. Both are ten hours. These are illustrative times, not a forecast for a real city; actual daylight depends on location and season, and twilight brings light before sunrise and after sunset.
