This Bird Survives 1,000G Hits Because Its Tongue Is a Seatbelt. #shorts #animals #cutaway

A woodpecker’s skull takes a car-crash level hit about twenty times a second — around a thousand times gravity — and stays fine.

Two secrets. First: unlike ours, its tiny brain is packed tight against the skull, with no fluid gap to slosh in — no slosh, no concussion. Second, the strange one: its tongue doesn’t stop at the mouth. It wraps under the jaw, around the back of the skull, all the way to the top — tightening on impact like a living seatbelt.

We look inside the head built for collisions.
